BACKGROUND
Themba Nko popularly known as Mthizo is born and bred in one of Soweto’s most iconic townships, Zola. With growing up in a township that also gave birth to Kwaito legends Mthizo believes that his talent
was meant to be and that his calling to the music scene was to carry on the
townships legacy.

CAREER INFLUENCERS
Mthizo found his musical passion at a tender age, as he was raised by a father that collects music which exposed him to great artists like Caiphus Semenya, Condry Ziqubu, Bra Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse, Bra Hugh Masikela, Brenda Fassie and many more. He then went out to the streets of Zola where he got introduced to the likes of Zola 7, Mandoza, Brown Dash, Brickz,
Mapaputsi and Gp Gangsta.
The young rapper and songwriter is recognized by his lyrical content that talks about the events that occur in his neighborhood. He employs a unique way of addressing general issues in South Africa by metaphorically linking them to what specifically happens in his township. One can also tell by Mthizo’s choice of words, the use tsotsi taal, and his ghetto attitude of delivery.

ARTISTIC INSIGHTS AND TECHNIQUES
Mthizo’s employs a mix of convetntional and mordern hip hop music production techniques. He is not afraid to turn a conventional robotic drum machine beat into something a bit more bouncy. He is able to beef up choruses and emphasise the best lyrics nicely without neglecting authenticity.
